Marcus R. BoschBorn in 1969 conductor Marcus Bosch has been music director of the city of Aachen since 2002. Fritz Busch, Herbert von Karajan and Wolfgang Sawallisch were among his predecessors in this tradition-rich position. Under his leader - ship the Sinfonieorchester Aachen has presented numerous concert projects, new audiences have been created and concert attendance has tripled.

As guest conductor Marcus Bosch has appeared with Orchestra Nazionale della RAI Torino, the Orchestra National Belgique, the Orchestra Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the Göteborgs Operaan, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the RSB and DSO Berlin, the MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie as well as the Sächsische Staatsoper and the Staatskapelle Dresden.

He guests regularly at the Komische Oper, Berlin, and at the Hamburg Staats - oper. The award of the Handel Prize of the city of Halle and his conducting appearance at the Munich Biennale for Contemporary Music are examples of the conductor’s broad stylistic mastery. His stewardship of the Festival Schloss - oper Haldenstein, the Kurpark Classix in Aachen and the Internationale Chor - biennale Aachen have been of particular cultural significance.

Recordings under the direction of Marcus Bosch have included works of Handel, Mozart, Brahms, Verdi and Wagner, among others. The Bruckner symphony cycle made with the sinfonieorchester Aachen has been particularly well received internationally.

Oystein Baadsvik

Tuba

 

Oystein BaadsvikBorn in 1966 in Trondheim, Norway, Oystein Baadsvik is the only tuba player to have carved out a carreer exclusively as a soloist, rather than becoming a member of an orchestra or accepting a teaching post.

At the age of 18 he has won the first price in a national com - petition of solists in Norway. With 20 he started his music study with Michael Lind at the Swedish University for Music in Stockholm. He also studied under the celebrated tuba player Harvey Phillips, Indiana University and with the legendary Arnold Jacobs who had a 40-year-carreer and position of principal tuba with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Oystein Baadsvik’s international carreer began in 1991 when he was awarded two prizes at the prestigeus Concours International d’Exécution Musical in Geneva. Baadsvik has premiered some 40 solo works by com - posers from the USA, Russia, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland.

Oystein Baadsvik is well-known for his master classes throughout the United States, including the Juilliard School, Indiana University, Cleveland Institute of Music, Shephard School of Music, Rice University and at the University of Wisconsin.

Jens Björn-Larsen

Jens Björn-LarsenHe was born in 1965 in Denmark. Jens Björn-Larsen belongs to a small group of world-wide reknown solo tubists and is a highly respected and successful teacher for brass instruments. He has been awarded with many prizes, amongst others the first prize in the Nordic Competition of Soloists, the Victor Borge Prize and the Concours d’Exécution Musical in Geneva.

After playing 20 years as a solo tubist he left 2005 the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in order to be able to dedicate himself exclusively to teaching and to a soloist carreer performing with leading orchestras in the world.

Jens Björn-Larsen is professor for tuba at the Hoch - schule für Musik und Theater in Hannover and is also teaching at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen as well as at the Music Academy in Malmö.

He is regularly giving master courses in the United States, Japan and in many European countries. Björn- Larsen is B & S Melton artist.

Jonas Bylund

Trombone

 

Jonas BylundSwedish-born Jonas Bylund studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stock holm and played as solo trombonist in the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Phil harmonic Orchestra and the Bamberger Symphoniker. Jonas Bylund won 1st prize at the “Concours International d’ Exécution Musicale” in Geneva in 1988 and the ARD-Wett bewerb in Munich in the following year. He has given solo performances with L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Sinfonie orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the Oslo Phil har monic Orchestra, the Stock holm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philhar monia Orchestra London.

Jonas Bylund is a member of Stockholm Chamber Brass, one of the world’s leading brass ensembles. Held a professorship of trombone at the Academy of Music in Hannover, Ger - many, since 1995. Many of his students have positions in leading orchestras worldwide and have won prizes at major international competitions. Together with his class, he won the 2006 “Emory Remington Award”, the International Trombone Association’s prize for the best trombone ensemble.

Hans Gansch

Hans GanschBorn in Kirnberg (Lower Austria) in 1953, Hans Gansch is professor of trumpet at the “Mozarteum” University Salzburg since 1996. He studied trumpet at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz under the guidance of Pro - fessor Franz Veigl and was the first trumpeter in the following orchestras:
1974–1976 Brucknerorchestra Linz
1976–1982 Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra
1982–1996 Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

Professor Gansch performs as soloist with leading orchestras, pianists and organists both at home and abroad. He won the prize of classical recording critics (Deutsche Schallplattenkritik) for one of his solo CDs, a recording with the orchestra “Camerata Academia Salzburg” published with Atemmusik Records of trumpet concerts written by Joseph Haydn, Nepomuk Hummel, Leopold Mozart, Antonio Vivaldi and Georg Philipp Telemann.

Hans Gansch is the founder and head of one of the leading brass ensembles of the world, the “Austrian Brass Connection”. Many of his students are solo trumpeters in prestigious European orchestras and have won numerous international music competitions.

Matthias Höfs

Matthias HöfsBorn in 1965 in Lübeck Matthias Höfs studied at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg and then with Konradin Groth in the Karajan-Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1984 he became first trumpet with the Philharmonic State Orchestra Ham - burg. Already at an early age he attracted inter national attention with first prizes in the German Conservatory Competition (1987) and in the international music competition in Markneu kirchen (1990). Other awards were the Hanse-Culture-Prize (Lübeck1983), the Edward- Süring-Prize (1989) and a scholarship from the Deutsche Musikrat and the Mozart Society (1989).

Since 2000 he has been a professor of trumpet and chamber music at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg.

Since 1985 he has been a member of the German Brass Ensemble and besides Enrique Crespo he has arranged a large number of musical transcriptions for the group.

Matthias Höfs is well-known for his outstanding performance and brilliant, limitless and virtuosic style.

Christian Lindberg

Trombone

 

Christian LindbergHe is one of the greatest virtuosos of the trombone ever known. Born on February 15th, 1958 in Stockholm/Sweden into an artist familiy – both parents were painters.

At the age of 17 he has taking up the trombone playing influenced by Jack Teagarden. Two years later by the age of 19 he had a professional position in the Royal Swedish Opera and at 20 he left the orchestra carreer behind to study in Stockholm, London and Los Angeles to become a full-time soloist. In 1991 he was nominated as the solist of the year by BBC together with Yo-Yo Ma and Gideon Cremer.

An international jury voted him among the five greatest brass players of the 20th century together with Louis Armstrong, Miles Davies, Dennis Brain and Maurice André.

Christian Lindberg has so far recorded more than 60 CDs for labels like EMI, Deutsche Grammophon etc. His repertoire includes more than 100 compositions. Christian Lindberg’s artistery and virtuosity has inspired the greatest names within contemporary composers such as Luciano Berio, Iannis Xenakis, Toru Takemitsu and Mark-Anthony Turnage.

Raimund Wippermann

 

Raimund WippermannRaimund Wippermann studied music teaching, sacred music and choirmaster at the University of Music in Cologne and Duesseldorf. Post graduate studies at the conservatory in Stockholm followed (amongst others with Professor Eric Ericson); several years' engagement as church musician; 1991 appointment as Director of Music at the dome in Essen where he was entrusted with the direction of the dome choir and the formation of the girls' choir.

Since 1997 is Raimund Wippermann professor for choir conducting at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf where he already started as a teacher in 1990. A special emphasis of his work as professor is the choir master teaching of students of sacred music.

Since August 2004 he has been the director of the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf.

Raimund Wippermann is the founder and artistic director of the chamber choir Cantemus. From 1995 until September 2000 he was also choir master of the Städtischer Musikverein in Düsseldorf.

He has been a price winner of the German choir competition with his chamber choir Cantemus in 1990 in Stuttgart and has received the scholarship of the Deutsche Musikrat and has also won a price in the German choir competition 2002 in Osnabrück with his girls' choir of the Dome in Essen. He is a regular guest conductor of the radio choir of the Bayerischer Rundfunk.
