Ivan MeylemansIvan Meylemans was born in 1971 in Belgium, studied trombone percussion and piano at the Lemmens Institute of Leuven (Louvain) and the conservatory of Ghent.

Since his professional trombone debut in 1987, Ivan has rapidly established himself s a charismatic instrumentalist. As a solist he has won many national and international awards and played with the most renowned orchestras of the world, most notably the Royal Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, where he has been principal trombonist since 1994.

In 1996 Ivan Meylemanns started orchestral conducting studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Since he graduated in 2000 with summa cum laude, his career as a conductor has surpassed his career as an instrumentalist. Ivan Meylemans has been much in demand as a guest conductor for famous national and international chamber and symphony orchestras. 2004/07 he acted as assistant-conductor for Mariss Jansons at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Since Meylemans is heading towards a full-time conducting career, he has decided that 2006/07 season will be his last at the Concertgebouw and as an instrumentalist as such.

Since January 2007 Ivan Meylemans is chief conductor of the Orchestra "Collegium Instrumentale Brugense".

Hans Gansch

 

Hans GanschBorn in Kirnberg (Lower Austria) in 1953, Hans Gansch is pro­fessor of trumpet at the “Mozarteum” University Salzburg since 1996. He studied trumpet at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz under the guidance of Professor Franz Veigl and was the first trumpeter in the following orchestras:

1974 - 1976: Brucknerorchestra Linz
1976 - 1982: Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra
1982 - 1996: Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

Professor Gansch performs as soloist with leading orchestras, pianists and organists both at home and abroad. He won the price of classical recording critics (Deutsche Schallplattenkritik) for one of his solo CDs, a recording with the orchestra "Camerata Academia Salzburg" published by Atemmusik Records of trumpet concerts written by J. Haydn, N. Hummel, L. Mozart, A. Vivaldi and G. Ph. Telemann.

Hans Gansch is the founder and head of one of the leading brass ensembles of the world, the "Austrian Brass Connection". Many of his students are solo trumpeters in prestigious European orchestras and have won numerous international music competitions.

Walter Hilgers

 

Walter HilgersWalter Hilgers is an outstanding multi-faceted musician. He belongs to a small group of gifted solotubists who play in concerts on the international scene. He was born in 1959 in Stolberg / Rhineland and studied music at the Rhineland State Institute of Music, Grenzlandinstitut Aachen.

After playing with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg and the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg, he moved to Vienna where he is currently tubist for the Vienna Philarmonic Orchestra. From 1979 to 1995, he was a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.

As a founding member, he is part of the leading German brass ensemble, the "German Brass" since 25 years.

In 1995, he was appointed professor for tuba and chamber music at the "Franz Liszt" School of Music in Weimar.

Walter Hilgers makes a major contribution to the development of young musicians and has been training young German brass soloists since 2000.

In 1995, Walter Hilgers won a conductor competition in Slovakia. As guest conductor, he has worked amongst others with the Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra (Kosice), the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra (Croatia), the Monte­video Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (Uruguay), the European Festival Orchestra and the Brandenburg State Orchestra. In addition, he has led the Chamber Ensemble of the Bavarian State Orchestra in Munich, the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg and the Valencia Symphony Orchestra (Spain).

Christian Lampert

 

Christian LampertChristian Lampert was born in Offenburg in 1967 and studied music specialising in the horn with Francesco Raselli in Basel, Mahir Cakar in Stuttgart and Professor Erich Penzel in Cologne. He was a scholar of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, won a prize at the "Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen" and won the "Tonger Competition" at the Musikhochschule Köln.

From 1989 to 1996, Christian Lampert was solo horn player at the Frankfurt Opera House and Museum Orchestra. In 1996, he moved to a similar position with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 1996, he also became the solo horn player at the Bayreuth Festival Opera.

In 2002, after five years teaching at the School of Music in Frankfurt, he took over the position of lecturer for the horn at the Basel Conservatoire of Music. Since 2004, Christian Lampert is also full-time professor at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart.

Marie-Luise Neunecker

 

Marie-Luise NeuneckerMarie-Luise Neunecker is one of the world's leading horn players. She studied musicology and German language and literature, completing her musical education as a horn player with Erich Penzel in Cologne.

She gained extensive musical experience as the solo horn player with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1979 to 1989.

Marie-Luise Neunecker has won several international competitions. In 1982, she won the German Music Competition in Bonn; in 1983, the ARD competition in Munich and in 1986, she gained the first prize at the "Concert Arist Guild Competition" in New York. As soloist, she performs in Europe, the USA, Japan and at international festivals such as the Salzburg Festival. She plays with musicians such as Frank Peter Zimmermann, Christian Tetzlaff or Zehetmair-Quartett.

In January 2001, Marie-Luise Neunecker performed the world premiere of György Ligeti´s horn concerto "Hamburgisches Konzert" which he had written for her.

Professor at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, she has also made many recordings which include all the Horn Concertos of Richard Strauss.

Gabor Tarkövi

 

Gabor TarköviGabor Tarkövi was born in 1969 in Esztergom, Hungary. From 1983 to 1987, he attended the Conservatory in the city of Györ. After graduating from secondary school in 1987, he began his studies with György Geiger at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.

Since 2004, Gabor Tarkövi has been principal trumpeter of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Besides this, he is a member of the "Pro Brass" ensemble in Austria. Chamber music and solo appearances have taken Gabor Tarkövi to a number of European countries such as Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hungary and France.
Gabor Tarkövi has successfully participated in a number of international music competitions. In 1993, he won the second price in the Maurice André Competition in Albert.

He taught trumpet at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin from 1997 to 2000 and has also given regular master classes worldwide.

Raimund Wippermann

 

Raimund WippermannStudied music teaching, sacred music and choirmaster at the conservatories in Cologne and Düsseldorf. Postgraduate studies at the conservatory in Stockholm (amongst others with Professor Eric Ericson); several years' engagement as church musician; 1991 appointment as Director of Music at the dome in Essen where he was entrusted with the direction of the dome choir and the formation of the girls' choir.

Since August 2004, he has been the director of the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf.

Raimund Wippermann is the founder and artistic director of the chamber choir Cantemus. From 1995 until September 2000 he was also choir master of the Städtischer Musikverein of Düsseldorf.
